The History of Earth Day Earth Day was founded on April 22, 1970 By United States Senator Gaylord Nelson. Its sole purpose was and still in to spread awareness and appreciation for Earths environment as well as to encourage people to try to do more to help protect and preserve it. Party Activities During Earth Day parties it is common for guests to plant flowers and even trees. This serves as a way to help the environment as well and Mother Earth in her battle for salvation. Party Favors for Earth Day Small pins with pictures of the Earth on it as well as small trees or potted plants make for great party favors.
