The History Of Easter The word Easter originated from the translation of the word Passover. Easter is a day that was created to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. According the Christian scripture this happened on the third day after he was crucified. The actual day and date is not noted which allows Easter to be a movable date on the calendar. Party Colors Since Easter takes place during the spring most people use spring colors for their Easter party. These spring colors would be mainly the pastel colors. This typically includes a light yellow, pink, purple, blue, green or red. Craft The decorating of eggs is one of the more popular crafts of Easter. This is fun for kids of all ages for not only can they paint them but they can also glue cute accessories onto them. Another fun craft that can be done for Easter would be to take a piece of paper and make bunny ears for the kids to wear during their Easter egg hunt. Educational Activities A fun way to encourage learning in kids on Easter would be to print out a couple pages with numerous eggs on it. Then proceed to have the kids color them in and count them. This will encourage them in learning their numbers and coloring. Another good idea would be to create a work sheet that dealt only with Easter phrases and have the kids find them on the paper. Food A common favorite Easter food is hard boiled eggs. However, a more traditional Easter food is pretzels. Most people aren't aware of the reason pretzels are shaped the way they are. They were shaped that way to indicate a persons torso with their arms folded in prayer. Party Banners There are so many ways people can be creative with their Easter Banners. One idea would be to have a bunny peeking into a big basket of eggs and on each egg have a letter so that the eggs spell Happy Easter. Another idea would be to have a cross at the top of the banner and a palm leaf at the bottom with the word Hosanna in the middle of it. Entertainment Ideas The guests will be more appreciative of the Easter egg hunt or the days celebration a lot more if there is some extra entertainment.
