The first Saturday in May is the yearly Kentucky Derby horse race, so make sure to plan ahead for the appropriate Kentucky Derby Party Supplies and a smashingly good time. Invite your guests using Derby language (surf around on the Net for hints and tips from the pros), asking guests to come to the 'track', with the 'trainers' as the hosts of the special event. Offer lots of food in as many horseshoe shapes as possible: Jello molds, salmon mousse, ice cubes, cupcake icing - the works. Your tables should be covered in flowers (red roses if it's affordable), and lots of chocolate horses. |

KENTUCKY DERBY THEMED CHARACTERS/WHO AM I? GAME: With the invitations, make up a mock Kentucky Derby Party Dictionary, filling it with horse racing terms that your guests may not be aware of. Tell them the dress code is merely, "Silk" and that they must attend using the proper language and wear the appropriate attire for the event. At the end of the party, you can 'crown' the top dresser and speaker with their own horseshoe of flowers.
